Ever since Sheren Tang has Wyman Wong to be her stylist, in charge of her presentation outfit, her choice of clothes have become very stylish. The other night, she was invited to attended Vivienne Westwood's "2010 Spring and Summer Collection" fashion show. Talking about the Chinese New Year and the Valentine's Day is drawing near, the reporter asked if she has any dates lining up? Sheren said "I am not telling you, (Who are you spending Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year with?) I am working on the New Year's day and I will be spending the time with my family. (Are you bringing your boyfriend home to meet your family?) Not telling you either, but I can say I will be spending the time with all my love ones." Sheren smiled and said she hopes that she will meet her lover in time to spend the Valentine's day together. She went on to say "Even when I have found one, I need space from the media so that I can spend time with him to get to know him better. Otherwise, the moment I step out of my house, the paparazzi would take our pictures straight away, that may frighten him off. Therefore, I am looking for a guy who is very brave and courageous, as well as not to be scared of the paparazzi." Source: MingPao Translator: R.E.D @ http://www.asianvn.com

Jacky Cheung’s New Album: High End Production

It’s been 5 years since Jacky Cheung released a Cantonese album; his new album "Private Corner" will be released worldwide next Friday (January 29th). This album has been in preparations for a long time – all because Jacky takes the production of his album very seriously. Originally, a portion of the songs were already recorded, however after Jacky listened to them again, he decided to give up on 6 songs and instead choose a few new songs to re-record, resulting in additional time and costs. In post-production, the album was first sent to the U.S. for sound-mixing, then sent to Germany for disc printing, so that his fans – who have waited a long time for this album – can enjoy the highest quality recording. Jacky described his creative album from 5 years ago as his most personal album to date; however this time around, he took the musical genre that he enjoyed listening to the most [jazz] and converged it into a record – presenting his “private corner” so that all his fans can experience his “private world.” Since Jacky does not have any contracts with TVB, his MVs are allowed to be broadcast on other TV stations, if necessary. Universal has chosen to hold a press conference for Jacky on Jan. 28th to present his album to the public for the first time.

A Real Man: Steven Ma

Break up, make up; Steven's heart remains true to his gf, Vivian. A Real Man When heard of my interview appointment with Steven Ma, my colleague teased: “Him again?” Yap! My last interview with him was barely half a year ago. Who ask “A Watchdog’s Tale”to be so popular. Now both adults and kids have taken to calling him his character’s nickname, “Yan Tze Toh” (flip-plop person) Only a lapse of half a year, a person normally would not have changed much, as a matter of fact, he pretty much remains the same through the years. “I’m a rock. Have you ever seen a rock nods its head? How can I change?” (a play on Chinese idiom 顽石点头 ) Especially when he is being serious, people around him will automatically straighten up their backs, even the dogs taking pictures with him will sit properly. “Honestly, throughout my 38 years, I’ve never been reckless.” Mother had cancer when he was young.

Sheren Tang Chooses Beijing to Buy Property

Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang attended a charity dinner for a real estate company two days ago. Since both artists worked a lot and made a lot of money last year, they were asked whether there were any plans to buy some real estate. Sheren said she doesn’t understand investing; she tried buying some property when the market was good, but who would have guessed that right when she bought the property, the price immediately fell. Sheren says that she is a very simple person – as long as she has a place to live, then she is satisfied. If she were to invest in real estate, she would choose to buy property in Beijing, as China’s prospects look strong…she would just treat the investment as a means of saving money. Wayne laughed and expressed that even though he did many commercials, it wasn’t enough to buy a house. He expressed that he also doesn’t understand how to invest; the house that he has now is still being financed, so there isn’t “extra” money to buy additional property. Jenny Yan Laments That The “New” Is Not Up to Par With the “Old”

During an interview with i-Cable, singer Jenny Yan lamented that today’s music industry has changed and is going downhill. She indicated that in the music industry of her generation, the focus was on quality, not quantity. However, this is not the case with the industry nowadays: many of today’s singers are not well known – in fact, people don’t even know their names; sometimes, when she turns on the radio, she may listen to an entire song without knowing who sings it! In the past, each singer was easily recognizable in their own right and had great singing prowess – for instance, whenever Roman Tam opened his mouth to sing, everyone knew it was him (due to his distinct voice and singing abilities); also, fans would never get Jenny Yan and Paula Tsui mixed up…each singer had their own distinct qualities and prowess. She also complained that today’s singers don’t have skill – even the basics such as pronunciation of words is not done properly, to the point where when they sing Cantonese songs, it sounds like English songs – without the lyrics listed on the screen, it’s impossible to tell what they are singing! Jenny feels saddened by the state of the music industry today as well as for the singers of this generation….in her generation, singers only had to concentrate on “singing” as a profession – meaning that their focus was on mastering their singing skills; today’s singers film TV series, commercials, movies, etc. – how do they even have the time or energy to focus on their singing? When asked about what her future aspirations are for her daughter Melody, Jenny expressed that she can do anything she wants EXCEPT become a singer or an actress, because nowdays, in order to succeed in the entertainment industry, you are required to “not want face” (不要臉). [Translator’s note: meaning do anything possible – including grovel, lower one’s standards, compromise values, etc.] In terms of whether her daughter encourages her to find “a significant other” – Jenny feels that it is not necessary at this point in time: “Why is it necessary for me to be in a love relationship? With love comes hate as well, why cause myself to get hurt?” Source: Mingpao Translation: llwy12 @ AsianFanatics
